  • I once asked a question on this but I never got a response - your example does not involve warehouses. Once you involve warehouses there seem to be a problem with that replace function.

    Hi Emelda

Can you please test this matter on your own demo company of Evolution version 10.1?

If still an issue, please log your query then with Evolution Support tin which you include the detailed steps on how to recreate it.

We are always dedicated to fix any software bugs Slight smile

    Kind Regards

Sadly, I already logged the issue. The below is the reponse I got from the support:

Whats the point of the replace function if i then have to replace the original BOM? You see what I mean by how it contradicts the knowledge base article?

    HI Emalda

I don't know how to answer your query Slight smile

This is how it works. You need to first replace the default component and then draw the new component.

But please tell me how it contradicts the KBA?

    Hie Bennie...

You are too kind, to follow up with this :) However the below steps are whats in the KBA

    1. Create 3 items: Item1, Item2 , and ReplaceItem1

    2. Create a new Bill of Materials (BOM) recipe and link Item1 and Item2 as components.

    3. Ensure there are quantities in stock for Item2 and ReplaceItem1 (but nothing on hand for Item 1)

    4. Create a Manufacture process for the new BOM and Save it when done.

    5. As there are insufficient quantities for  Item1, capture a Replace line transaction to replace Item1 with ReplaceItem1 then Save, Process & Close

There is nowhere that says replace Item1 with ReplaceItem1 in the BOM....but yet support said this is what you need to do. I am not saying the above does not work for non warehouse items but it sure doesn't work the same way with warehouse items.

The whole point of the Replace functionality is that If you decide to use an alternate component to the one specified in the bill of materials, you can substitute another item for the original one.

Maybe the way I am looking at it is wrong and would gladly take any suggestions or corrections, we are all learning new things everyday after all.

    Hi Emelda

Let me first get clarity on the following:

If you only apply the KBA's advise/steps,  is it not working as you expected?

If not, sorry, please just elaborate a bit.

    Kind Regards

    Bennie

Like i said in my previous response, the KBA steps work perfectly fine BUT these only work for non warehouse items, they do not work when you use warehouse items which is where support then said replace the component in the BOM - which is not as per the KBA steps.

    O.... I see..:Grin

    :Sorry for not following you..

Ok, let me revisit/research the KBA then.

What is your customer number, Emelda? I want to create a new incident (ticker) and follow up with you through the incident.

    Kind Regards

    Bennie
