Customer statement send [email] times out every single month. Why @Sage?

Every single month we do very small customer statement run, and every single month (for the past 6 months) our customer statement send times out [ERROR 504 GATEWAY TIMEOUT]. We have tried sending after hours, during hours, on different days of the week...  Still times out. It's not a massive amount of statements (less than 200), and we are not doing anything else of high resource load at the same time. 

This is becoming tedious, as we have to wait for a period after the failure and then download, sort & check the Customer Communication Report to confirm that all statements were sent. And if the number on the preview screen does not match the csv report, we have to investigate who has potentially been skipped / not received an email. As a further check we copy an email address in the send & can check how many statements are CCd to that address, but again, we should not have to double and triple check because the system cannot cope with a very small statement run.

I would like to know why this failure is happening every month, and what is doing to attend to this please?
