Sage ERP X3 Updating\Patching from 12.0.20 to 12.0.30

SUGGESTED

Hello everyone,

I have a question please.

If I have sage X3 server version 12 patch 20 and I need to update the patch to become 26 or 30.

Is there a way that I can do the update of the patches one shot without going one by one.

And of course without doing it one shot on fresh installation. Because this is a running server and it’s already on patch 20 so I will not re-do it as fresh installation.

I know that for fresh installation I can do it one shot directly to 26 or 30 but my question is for a server on patch 20 !!

Thank you in advance

    Hi Ali,

    since X3 V12 2019 R4 (V12.0.19) cumulative patching is possible.
Please have a look to the online help: https://online-help.sageerpx3.com/erp/12/public/administration-reference_updates.html

That means you can update the application in one step from V12.0.20 up to a newer version.
Take for the update of technical components e.g. MongoDB. You can find infos and links about this on online help as well.
    https://online-help.sageerpx3.com/erp/12/public/getting-started_quick-upgrade-guide.html

And read carefully the infomations in the patch release notes.

    Kind regards,
    Markus

    Hi Markus,

    Thank you for the information.

I upgraded all the needed components and reconfigured the X3 application by using the links you sent in your answer but the version is still stuck on version 12.0.20.

Everything was going well till I reached applying the list of patches files, it says in the link that I need the patches files in the zip file.

Should I apply the X3 V12.0.30 directly or I will need to apply the patches one by one starting from 12.0.20?

    Kind regards,

    Ali

    Hi Ali,

that means you didn't install any patch via the update functionality so far?
Then it is correct when your solution displays the version 12.0.20 - you have updated the technical components so far.
But you didn't update the application itself.

As mentioned, these are cumulative patches, From that it wouldn't make any sense to install one by one, this is not cumulative :-)

You have to install the patch 12.0.30. Creat a new Update and use the zip file "x3-patch-12.0.30.zip" in the Update Functionality.
Upload the file, select the X3 folder in the section "Apply To" and save it. After that you can install  the update

    Kind regards,
    Markus

    That sounds good.

Actualy I didn't install any patch via X3 system. I just updated the components as recommended.

Will I need to upload all the x3 patches zip files at the same time, starting from "x3-patch-12.0.21.zip" to "x3-patch-12.0.30.zip"? Or just upload the "x3-patch-12.0.30.zip" then the X3 system will be upgraded directly by itself?

What will happen in the background?

I really need to know before I start.

Thank you Markus and I hope you're enjoying your time,

    Ali

Upload v12p30 zip. Then, you have to authorize the patch update.

What will happen in the background?

It will patch up X3 followed by its children folders like SEED until all the folders are updated to v12p30.

Obviously, authorize the run of the patch update in Sage X3 server and not on your own workstation.

Then, just sleep and check back tomorrow.

If any issue found, go to X3 folder and folder validation (VALDOS) the folder refusing to go up to v12p30.
