X3 new ADC install

I have just installed 2021R3 on my machine.

I attempted to install the new ADC in 2021R2 but encountered issues and left it aside. I noticed that in the components to install for 2021R3 there was something called x3-services-8.0.55-win for ADC.

My questions regarding setting up the new ADC are:

1. Is this new x3-services-8.0.55-win install replacing the instructions posted for 2021R2 https://online-help.sageerpx3.com/erp/12/public/getting-started_sage-x3-services-installation.html or do I have to go through that first?

2. I have never installed a component like this x3-services-8.0.55-win. when you unzip it, it doesn't have a .JAR file like ADXadmin, or Console. How do you install it?

Thank you!

  • Hi Philippe,

It's more of an "extract" than an "install".  As per the instructions you have mentioned you extract the files from the archive and then configure it.

When upgrading make sure you backup the config files otherwise they will be overwritten without all the settings when you extract the new version.

  • Yes, please follow the installation instructions (they are the same), and in step 7, using the Windows PowerShell prompt create the Sage X3 Services. In 2021 R1 it was called Sage XTreeM X3 and now it's called Sage X3 Services.

Additionally, the ADCDIS badge must be associated to the user role.

    Hi Carl,

"when upgrading make sure you backup the config files..." Do you mind elaborating on this?

    1. "upgrading"? which part of the upgrade are we talking about? the ADC install? the X3 R3 patch?

    2. "backup the config file... when you extract the new version" which config files? what "new version"?

Sorry but as you can see, I'm very unfamiliar with this type of setup so need to go into more details Slight smile

    Thanks!

When a new version of the services package comes out it is "installed" as per the instructions, starting with "Unzip x3-services-M.m.P.b-win.zip in the target folder".  When you do that it will overwrite your existing xtrem-security.yml file which has your url, client id and secret in it.  Make sure you have a copy of the original file (or a record the settings).

Hi Carl, Thanks for your reply. ADC is now installed on my machine. There is one part of the instructions I couldn't apply though: the section called "Resize the handheld application" I am using chrome but I went to the browser (more), I didn't have an option which said "Install Sage X3". How do we make it appear on that Chrome window?  Cheers

On the version I had I didn't have the plugin either.  I suspect it will be available in the newer versions.

  • Hi Philippe,

My Chrome version is Version 93.0.4577.63 (Official Build) (64-bit), but I am not sure if the issue with "Install Sage X3" option is relevant to the Chrome version. In my case, I have installed New ADC module for one of my clients and the URL is a FQDN with Https connection compare to your case which is a local installation on your VM. Wondering if that might be the issue.

Also try Edge, as I am able to see this option on MS Edge as well Version 93.0.961.38 (Official build) (64-bit)

Hi Victor. Thanks for the tip in howtogeek. I didn't get the plugin with my X3 service install, but was able to "create" it using the tip. very easy.

Note: the handheld background is just a png image displayed using Photos, and then I drag the chrome browser session over it, giving the illusion that X3 runs on the handheld Slight smile

Thanks Carl. Useful tip from Victor below to solve that, without waiting for another version.
