Law Pay Interface

SOLVED

Greetings all.  In general I am quite pleased with the LawPay interface that Timeslips has but there is one limitation:  When a client makes a trust payment via Lawpay, Lawpay doesn't recognize it in Timeslips.  When I go into Timeslips to download Lawpay transactions (Transactions->LawPay Transactions) I only have two options:  Create Payment or Ignore.  I prefer to create a payment but it only seems to be able to record the payment as an account receivable transaction.  To really do it right, I have to then go to the payment and transfer it to client funds.  This is not only unwieldy, but it creates a confusing visual on the client's statement.  A workaround that I have is to just "ignore" the payment in Timeslips and then manually create/enter a payment (the same way I would enter it if the client were to pay by check).

So I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this glitch, so to speak, and if there's a better solution?
Thanks in advance.

You are correct in determining that Timeslips 2019 does not have Client Funds "Deposit" or "Pay to Account" capability when linked to LawPay/AffiniPay. The newer Sage Timeslips Premium Pro and Sage Timeslips Premium Elite do have that capability.

Your two solutions are the proper way to work with your version, although I would likely opt for the latter solution since I always recommend having the Accounts Receivable and Client Funds areas reflect exactly what is happening in the bank accounts.

I was remembering this topic and am looking at something in Timeslips again which is definitely a shortcoming of 2019:  When I look at the Lawpay transactions, they all come into Timeslips as an account receivable transaction.  If I issue a refund through Lawpay, that too comes into Timeslips.  BUT, when I select it and create a payment, Timeslips doesn't recognize it as a refund - it comes in as a credit.  It should be -$---.  I may consider upgrading to the newer version if that problem has been address.
