Slow Database & Rates Randomly Calculating at Zero

I was directed to this link when I was told that the system we purchased was having (and constantly has) issues that causes crashes or delays. This most recent issues makes me believe the system is flawed because it is randomly zeroing out some attorney fees. I am not sure how to fix this since all the rates are in the system and it isn't zeroing out all of the rates or attorneys. Does anyone know of a patch to fix this?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Slow database could be anti-virus or network connectivity issues. Is it slow for everyone? Is it slow if opened directly on the server? What version of Timeslips? Have you excluded Timeslips from anti-virus scanning?

The rates randomly calculating at zero I have not seen. I would want to look at the rate setups for the matters where this is happening and probably look at workflow. It's going to be hard to fix without "eyes on".

I would be happy to discuss options with you.

I doubt it has to do with our IT because I asked from the beginning to look to make sure that was not the issue but I will ask again. I also realize it is difficult without "eyes on" but I do have the rates entered and I have verified those are not blank. That was the 1st place I went. We had an issue last month where it pulled rates that were not even entered for that client. I did locate where it was pulling from and it was when we initially set up the database. I believe it was a Wizard initial set up and that may be the reason why some of the rates went to zero because I took those rates out to offset it pulling in the incorrect rate. I just don't know why it is doing that because I have checked each client and the set up is the same, except for rates.

As for the version, we switched from TimeSlips 2015 to TimeSlips 2017. I noticed someone else on this forum did the same and is having similar issues. Is the 2017 version corrupt? And if so, will they send us a patch to fix this crappy database? We paid a lot of money for something that does not work correctly.  Thank you again.

I have clients running 2017 without issue. There are services releases for Timeslips 2017 and perhaps you do not have the latest service release installed. Under Help there is an option to check for updates.

The rate issue sounds like your rate rules are not setup correctly. It is not only having rates assigned but the matters being setup to pull the rates from the correct source. Are the slips being directly entered into Timeslips or imported in some way?

The slips are entered directly into the database.

I can confirm what Caren2 is saying re: I have also have several clients running v2017 and the rates thing you are describing is HIGHLY unusual. If you are changing rates, rate rules and running the Wizard, you may inadvertently be doing this yourself. Agreed the screen is not exactly intuitive when it comes to rates and rate rules.

Also, would you please let me know where in Help is the option to check for updates? I only saw one that mentioned updates in the training video section. Is that correct?

I completely understand what you are saying and if that was the case, would it not have been happening from the beginning? Why it is doing this now? It isn't happening to a new client but now to some older clients and not all. Again, ANY help would be wonderful or even directing me to where or how to fix.

I'm actually not 100% sure EXACTLY what is happening to even be able to start explaining and rate and rate rules are sort of touch to explain via a bulletin board.  Can you provide a bit more of a step by step of what is occurring?

That would depend on what service release you are currently on, but if you download and try to install on the server it will tell you if it is already installed. Note everyone must be out of Timeslips and you must be logged into the server to install .
