Access your data away from your office

Here are some helpful tips to keep your business on track when you may need to work somewhere other than your office:

  • Back up your data daily and store somewhere you can access remotely
  • Set up a terminal server that holds your software and all of its data allowing users to remote in and work within the software
  • Set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) so that users can access their work computer through Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) from a home computer (where Sage Timeslips is installed on the work computer)

We recommend you work with your Sage Business Partner and IT specialist to determine which method is best for your company.

  • Since setting up a terminal server or VPN might be a bit much for some offices to take on under short notice, also remember that any remote desktop solution (even good old GoToMyPC) works well for the main program.

For folks who just need to enter their time, there are also three slip entry options.  All are a form of subscription:

    1) Sage Timeslips eCenter - works for those on supported versions of Timeslips via phone/tablet at http://m.sagetimeslipsecenter.com or desktop browsers at https://www.sagetimeslipsecenter.com/

    2) iSlips Online by Brainfreeze Software - works with all versions of Timeslips on phones and tablets as an app.  https://www.islipsonline.com/?wpam_id=25

    3) iTimekeep by Aderant (formerly Bellefield) - works on phones, tablets as an app and also desktops via a website (you can get a test drive of the desktop by clicking here and choosing to Log In As A Guest in the lower right: https://services.bellefieldcloud.com/newdesktop/#/login, ) but only with versions of Timeslips running the Firebird SQL database (v2017 or later and including Premium). https://www.aderant.com/itimekeep/

Great points Nancy. If you ask nicely, iSlips will also give you access to an app for windows so you can enter from your computer.

  • Our firm implemented Smart Time by https://www.smarttimeapps.com/ -  for stand-alone web based time entry.  Users are able to enter time on the web or via the mobile app.  We have billing guideline violations entered into the system and tailored by client that force the attorney to correct their narratives in real time for compliance.  The platform can be customized to your needs.  When I post released time, it prepares a fully formatted txt file that we use to import the time via TS Import.  Highly recommend this solution.

, I clicked on your link.  Sounds interesting and very similar to iTimekeep with the OCG (Outside Counsel Guidelines), but no screen shots or pricing.  I did notice under the FAQ section that they require a 10 license minimum.

How do they receive the list of elements for a slip? ODBC? Did you have to build your own TSImport?
