Paid Leave Act

Is there going to be an adjustment to the way time off is accrued to comply with Illinois Paid Leave Act that will go into effect on January 1, 2024? Employees would earn one hour for every 40 hours worked until they reach a maximum of 40 hours per calendar year. I do not see a way to accomplish that in HRMS currently. The following article does a nice job outlining the Act.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,

According to the Illinois Paid Leave Act, which will go into effect on January 1, 2024, employees will be entitled to earn up to 40 hours of paid leave per year. The law states that employees should accrue one hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked.

To comply with this law, your organization may need to make adjustments to the way time off is accrued in your HRMS system. You may want to consult with your HR department or a legal professional to ensure that your organization is in compliance with the Illinois Paid Leave Act.

It's also possible that your HRMS provider may offer updates or adjustments to their system to accommodate the new requirements of the law. You may want to reach out to your HRMS provider to inquire about any updates or changes that they may have planned to help organizations comply with the Illinois Paid Leave Act. ConnectEBT Website
