"Invalid input. Date 'xx/xx/2022' does not exist in Common Services' Fiscal Year Calendar"

So you are ready to run your first payroll for 2022, all set to go and suddenly your payroll grinds to a stop with the following message: "Invalid input. Date 'xx/xx/2022' does not exist in Common Services' Fiscal Year Calendar". What does this mean? Is it hard to fix?

I'll answer the second question first: it is super easy to fix and it has to do with your Fiscal Year Calendar. The Fiscal Year Calendar allows you to lock down either past or future months and years so you don't accidentally do something like pay someone for 2025 instead of 2022, which is nice.

However, let's look at how to add 2022 to your Fiscal Year Calendar and get around that pesky error message. First up, from the Navigation Pane go to Setup > Payroll.

Once here, we are interested in the Payroll Setup section, and in the section, Fiscal Year Calendar.

You will now see the Fiscal Year Calendar and I'm betting it looks like this:

No matter how much you click on that right arrow, it won't budge past the current year, right? That's because you need to click on the "New" button to add a new year to the Fiscal Year Calendar.

Once you have done that click on the "Add" button then the "Save" button that both appear in the lower left hand corner and you are good to go. Go forth and run those 2022 payrolls!
