GL Job Code Equivalent

In Abra Suite (the old 9.x product) there used to be something called Job Codes and it had a field called G/L Equivalent.  When creating GL entries, if it saw that job code it would create a GL entry mapped to an equivalent GL Earning GL Code for example.

Does HRMS have this capability?  Or some other way of doing that?

My reasoning is...

I pay hourly people with regular earnings code - they should get mapped to a worker GL code

I pay salaried supervisors with the same regular earnings code - they should get mapped to a different executive GL code

  • A couple ways to handle this. If the main account number changes based on worker vs executive, you can use the GL Distribution code to determine the type of employee. For example, maybe your GL is account number and department like this:

    1000-100

    2000-100

If 1000 means worker and 2000 means executive, GL Distribution would be the way to handle this.

If it isn't the main account but instead is a segment of the GL, that changes based on employee type you can simply define that segment and enter the codes for worker vs executive. For example, if your GL is account number, department, job like this:

    1000-100-10

    1000-100-20

If 10 means worker and 20 means executive. Then simply define the segment as Job Code and enter the Job Code GL Equivalents in HRMS.

If it is a combination of both the first and second scenarios, you would use a combination of GL Distribution codes and a segment for Job Code. And, if your deductions and/or taxes should be allocated out based on the Job Code, you could use Cost Center Overrides to handle this scenario.
