Create a Workflow Rule with an Event Type of "End of Task" and an Event Code of the Task that you've defined under the Batch Server Tasks that you want e-mailed on. Set your recipients and on the Message tab select "Linked trace file" under the Attachments section at the bottom. This will email the log file attached to the job run.

It didn't seem to work for me. I entered in the recipient with a correct user e-mail, but did not get a response when I processed the task. Any other ideas why this may not work correctly?

I had no data model listed or any triggering conditions. Maybe a data model is needed?

A data model shouldn't be required. Make sure in your batch task setup (GESABT) that the User Message checkbox is checked.

Upon investigation, it looks like I don't have the table ABR in my database. I think this is where the batches are executed right? I tried to retrieve the table information with the query SELECT * FROM x3v6.CICPROD.ABATRQT ABR, but it said 'invalid object name'. It appears these are RTZ tables in our folder, so maybe this is why it's not working. Here is a screenshot of the table setup.

The ABATRQT table exists in the X3 folder level so you'd query it from:

SELECT * FROM x3v6.X3.ABATRQT

Thanks for that, I feel silly. It's strange though it doesn't seem to be sending on my workstation. I wonder if anyone else has had issues with this?

It works in my v6 environment when the WIP Finalization process runs in Batch. It sends me an email with the log file attached. You want this for FUNMAUTO?

It would be for FUNMAUTP (date shift) function.

I should clarify that the workflow set to "End of Task" only fires off when the task is ran by the batch server and not by running it manually in a session.

Well that would explain it. I was looking for it to e-mail when it is run manually by a user. I guess this would have to be achieved through a manual workflow and is likely out of my scope of X3 programming. Thx for the clarification. At least I can set these up for the MRP and ROP processing in the meantime.

You could create the workflow with the event type being "function start", it would send the email when the user went into that function. There is the possibility that they would exit without running it, but I would think that would be the exception, not the rule.

I'll see what I can come up with. You should be able to hook into the TERMINE action within the SPE code for that function and setup your e-mail in there. It would just be a matter of attaching the log file. I've hooked into functions before via SPE to send an email, just never to attach the log file.

A log file wouldn't be needed as long as the required information is included, which would be:

Work order numbers and statuses (firm/planned)
Date before change and after change
Released routing code

This may be obtainable from the mask DIA of the function.
