Hi Dan,
The dimensions information is tracked your general ledger. From the blog Getting to Know Your Dimension Types and Analytical Dimensions (Part I)
“The analytical dimensions may be considered as the ‘management centers’ designed to aggregate the accounting information for analytical and budgetary purposes. “Their nature depends on the analysis objectives used and upon which the concept of analytical dimension types is based.”
Here are some additional blogs that explain how dimensions and dimension types work:
Statistical groups provide the means to group or categorize products, customers and suppliers for reporting or inquiries. Standard X3 tables have a set definition of data fields. Statistical groups allow personalization of the system by defining additional data fields of significance. Without definition of these data fields, this information would not be populated during transactions and would not be available for reporting purposes. See KB 18683 for additional information.

Thanks,
Pam
I actually found your blogs on Dimensions yesterday and I found them helpful. Thank you.
Would it be correct to say that Statistical groups can be tracked at the transaction level where Dimensions can be tracked at the transaction level and the GL?
