Sage X3 Implementation - Resistance to change

We are a distribution/manufacturing company who implemented Sage X3 about 2 years ago and acquired another company early last year. We are facing quite the pushback from the acquisition from the employees and their resistance to change. Therefore, there is a lot of complaints on Sales Order entry and how long it takes to enter an order. The average entry is roughly about a minute per line. How long would you say it takes your Sales users to enter a sales order?

  • >>The average entry is roughly about a minute per line.

How many fields need to be entered?

I assume you use transaction entry and other methods to cut down on the number of fields to the "always" used and essentials and moved them to the left on the grid?

If you just need to enter the item and the quantity, it goes pretty fast.

  • Agree with Stephen, a minute is ages.  The web based X3 has always been slighly slower than the client in V6 an previous but this sounds way too long.

If the tabbing between fields is slow or performance decreases with each line added it is also worth checking 'Activation Timing' in the diagnosis in the right hand panel, then hit the 'Reading Timing' after you've entered a line or 2.  It will give you an idea if some inefficient bespoke code (or something like a Workflow) is causing a problem.

  • I also agree that a minute per line is too long. Are you using Entry Transactions to hide fields that aren't applicable to streamline the process?

  • Also, how many lines are they entering ?  For us, if the order is longer than 15 lines, we then use an import/ export template to create the sales order.
