BOM and Routing

SOLVED

Hello, I am fairly new user to X3, so please forgive me ahead of time for my terminology and how I word and explain my questions. Also if I have not started this in the correct discussion area.

My question or problem I am trying to solve and understand is as follows:

I produce product labels, many of these labels are manufactured using the same manufacturing process and materials. Currently each product label has it's on BOM and Routing! I have all the labels categorized by manufacturing processes, fixtures and materials.

How do I have a common or standard BOM and Routing for each category of product labels.

Examples

32oz

64oz

11oz...

Within each of these categories there will be different requirements whether they are a primary or secondary label, self adhesive or a wrap...

So in other words how would I create one BOM for all the 32oz primary labels that are self adhesive and etc... I may have 50 32oz front labels that are all manufactured the same way, only the art changes. How would I create one BOM and use it for those 50 labels?

It is basically the same question for the Routing

Thank you for your help and time

    Hi Frank.
I understand you have 50 differents products using the exact same list of components and operations.
Then to keep simple your data, I suggest you to create a phantom product named for instance 32oz. You will link as components of this phantom all the generic components you need.  Then you need to create 50 other BoM, that will linked the final product (as parent) to the phantm (as component). When creating a work order on the final product, the phantom will be automatically replaced by its components.
The huge benefice for you is : when creating / updating the list of components for all 32oz products, you only need to do it once!.

Regarding the routing, the easiest would be to create a routing for 1 32oz final product and then link this routing to all 49 other 32oz products (Product-site record, Manufacturing tab). As a result, this list of operations will be loaded in the work order for all 32oz products. Same benefit than before, when creating / updating the list of operations for all 32oz products, you only need to do it once!.
