I don't know the exact reasons, but believe Sage are gradually moving away from the "Classic" technology.  SOAP requests moved from Classic to Syracuse in PU9, Batch server moved in V11 and ADC will be moving soon to.  I would suggest this approach gives greater flexibility in architecture design and provides the ability moving load around on demand to get better performance and scalability.

I haven't tried your adonix code, but you can certainly control and check the batch server status using the technique described in the online help at https://online-help.sageerpx3.com/erp/12/staticpost/how-to-control-the-batcher-server/
