Hi Sage Community,

I was looking at the Sage EDI Module, and it appears that it only works with a select few EDI Partners out of the box and only certain transactions are covered depending on which Partner is used.

Is this correct?

Or can it be set-up to use other EDI Partners that are not listed and to process the different message types for creating in Sage X3 Sales Orders, and then outbound Sales Invoices, plus possibly credit notes (Credit notes do not appear in any list for any EDI Partners in the system)

I'm looking to see if this can be achieved using the Sage EDI Module and a EDI Partner of our choice, without the need for any other EDI Add-on's for Sage X3.

The manual is not very clear on this but it seems to be hard coded for only particular messages with specified EDI Partners.

Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks.

    Hi Erzsi,

No, I couldn't really find any information on the X3 EDI standard offering. So have ended up going an alternative route for the moment.

I'd still like to have information on the EDI in sage X3, and if / how it can be configured and setup to work with Flat files (CSV's) from an EDI Provider that are then processed by the system. The EDI provider not being one of the standard ones in the list already in X3.

Any information would be really appreciated. :-)

    Hi Bruce,

you can create your own EDI partner and it is possible to generate and receive files with flat CSV format using the "Delimited" file type in the File structure. However, the category type list is fixed and you can use Sales invoice type for Sales invoice and Credit notes.

Some more info about this subject is really valuable.

    Hi Vanessa Q,

    thank you for the above.

So I assume Sales orders can't be processed via Flat files using the category that is needed to be used?

You can use flat files (CSV) with Category type "Sales order" that is found in the Category type list.
