Workflow for Receipts

Hello everyone, first time poster here.

We recently went live with our X3 implementation in the previous months. My knowledge of the system is rather limited but I do consider myself a very technical person. I've been tasked with a request to develop a Workflow that is sent off anytime a Receipt is created with a specific sublot. We use the sublot field to track our serialized components that are being shipped to us. A good bit of the documentation I've read so far has been mostly of approval signatures. I don't know really where to start outside of the workflow creation screen. I know that the event code should be ARP(Attached Reports), but again outside of those few bits on info, I'm lost. I'm familiar with the tables for the header and line data, I just don't know how to structure the actual work flow.

    Hi Nicholas,

    Creating a workflow can be challenging even if you are technical and familiar with Sage X3. One resource is the online help for the function. Do you have access to the SEED folder which is Demo data? There are some workflow examples there beyond approval signatures.

    If you are new to Sage X3, I would suggest taking the Sage University class X3 - Sage X3 - Understanding and Creating Workflows ( available at sageu.com). This will give you a better feel for the overall workings of the function so you don't miss any features.  If your time line doesn't allow you to take the class, consider working with your Sage business partner to create it. They can train you while you create the workflow.

    I do have access to the SEED folder. Is there a specific flow you would recommend looking at? 


    I was actually signed up for that Class previously, but due to some technical difficulties on Sage's end, the class ended up being refunded.

    Is it as simple as an email being kicked off with standard text when a receipt is created and sublot = "X"?

    If so, that's an easy workflow. Or, are you wanting to include an attached report?

    Hi Christy- I am also looking for some hep with workflow for a purchase receipt.  My issue is that the workflow is not returning the total quantity when there are multiple lines.  I've added a data model (to link preceipt to preceiptd) and in the Regrouping lines field have [f:ptd]pthnum.  I also have |LIG| in the body with the line being: [M:pth1]qtystu(indice).   There is no quantity being displayed.  any help appreciated.  thanks Christine

    Hey Christine, I've actually got quite a bit better with workflows since I've made this post. If you want some help, make a new post with a screen shot of the data model and probably the message tab. Just message me when you do and I'll see if I can help you out. 

    I did end up getting my initial request to work, and since then have developed many more workflows.
