2 Million SKUs Management in Sage X3

SUGGESTED

Dear All,

We have a prospect having around 2 Million SKUs in one of their company. Have anyone experienced dealing with such a big number of SKUs in one company in Sage X3? Have the speed in finders, entries and reports remain OK after having this many SKUs? What are the maximum number of SKUs, you have worked with in X3, without getting affected on performance side?

Moreover, if someone can share their knowledge of any way to perform supercession management in Sage X3?

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Mian, you are right to question the ability to manage uncommonly large volume of records. The system will be affected, additional services may be required to optimize the processes, system architecture need to be able to support this constraint and even the way to manage the impelmentation will be affected. For instance, if you want to manage millions of sales order per year you shall not implement the sales order approval workflows. So I advise you to contact your local Sage to confirm Sage X3 can support such configuration.

Now, to give you an hint if we have similar customer, I need to better understand what managing 2M SKUs mean. Do you expect to have 2M of products for 1 company? On how many sites ? Are they managed in stock?

Hi Julien, Thanks much for your answer. We are considering a multi tier architecture with powerful processing & storage capacity, however that might not be enough.

As advised, I will contact local Sage, however, generally the answer you got is Yes, it can. That's why I asked here to see, if there are any practical examples of the same. Else, we will have to go for trial an error approach. :) May I ask, how many SKUs max, you have seen a customer using in X3?

For your information, 2M SKUs management, means for 1 company, with multiple possible sites. On average, you can say on average, each SKU will have 7-10 sites and they are all managed in stock. MRPs etc. will be processed too.

I have been in discussions to see, if there are any obsolete items or if we can start with "currently in use" SKUs only and keep adding new as and when required on the Go. In this case, may be we start with something around 0.5 Million, however, their preference is to have all SKUs in system from Day 1.
