How to search for activity codes

2 minute read time.

In this blog we will look at how to find activity codes. Not only how to find, but show all the areas where they are referenced and are being used. It's a great tool to help save you a ton of time. Let's take a look at how to search for activity codes

Navigate over to Development, Utilities, Searches, Search Activity code (or RECHACT from the search bar)

Once the Activity code search screen comes up, enter or lookup the activity code you want to search in the Activity Code box.  Next, you could specifically check/uncheck certain element boxes. If you know where you want to search. I would recommend leaving them all checked, especially if you aren't sure of all the areas where the activity code that you are searching may be found. Click OK when you want to start the search.

Let's take a look at a couple of search examples. In our first example, we will search for activity code SPK in all the elements.

You can see that the results will show each element that was selected.  Each element will have its own section and underneath the section, if the activity code is present there, it will be displayed. In this case, under the Screen element section, that one place where SPK was found was on screen code PKD1 block 3.

Now lets navigate to the Screen area to look for this activity code. Go to Development, Script Dictionary, Screens, Screen Dictionary. In the Screen code type in PKD1 and tab off the field. Then click on the Fields heading to jump to that section. Find the Blocks heading.  In the blocks area, on the third line, scroll over to the right and find the Act column(you may have to expand the column) and you will see the SPK activity code there.

In the second activity code search example, we will look for activity code AD5

As you can see in the results under the Tables section, AD5 is referenced in the BPADDRESS table in the CODSEE field.

Navigate to Development, Data and Parameters, Tables and lookup the BPADDRESS table.  Once there, locate the Columns area and look for the CODSEE field. Scroll over to the right and under the Act column, voila, there is the AD5 activity code.

I hope you get a chance to try out this search function and that it helps save you time!
