Importing Estimates into Sage 300 CRE

SOLVED

I am looking to Import several lines, with headers, and hoping someone has a template that is easy to follow.  Not too sure what the Ps and Cs are for or what to enter.  If you have an Excel template and/or detailed instructions, please let me know.  Need to get in a HUGE job ASAP and I don't want to have to manually key in 1,000+ lines.  Thanks for your help.

    Hello Linda,

    Have you clicked on "Help" in the Job Cost application? Search for "import estimates" and you'll find the required file structure and layout, what you're referring to as a "template." 

    You can also go to the Sage Knowledgebase and search for Solution ID: 24298 "Is there an example/template of Job Cost's Import Estimate?"  There are two attached files for download in that Solution ID.

    Thanks Art.  I got those but still not understanding.  What are the "P" and "C" for?  Also, what is the "JCE" file?  I cannot open that one.  I need to see the initial setup of the Excel file and what each column is for.  Also, need to see how headers are entered.  I have 19 floors and with each floor, I have 15 cost codes with estimate dollars for all and some also have estimated hours (units).  Any ideas??

    Hi Linda,

    Your questions are answered in the Knowledgebase Article: P = Cost Code (Phase) (if the cost code is not already set up; C = Cost Code estimate amount.  A link to the Sage Knowledgebase is below, in the footer of this web page. The JCE file is the required naming convention for the Job Cost Estimate import file.

    Hi Art,

    You were very helpful yesterday so thought I'd see if you could help me with, hopefully, my last question on importing my estimates into Sage 300CRE...

    So everything went ok but wondering .. If I have an extra (in my case a Phase), do I need to have a cost code associated with it?  I put in the following:

    P   1st Level   1st Level  (blank)   04272022 (date) and the rest of the columns are blank.

    After setting up to the 18th Level, below is what I got for all these "headers":

    2022-5477-01     P    1st Level  1st Level                           Invalid Cost Code

    Do I need to worry about this or is it okay that the cost code is invalid (it doesn't have a cost code).
