Can I move payroll hours 2021 from one job to another without causing an issue?  It will not affect the GL.  I am just moving hours and all costs associated

from one to another for it to show up correctly in the jobs.

Example:  21-012 Verizon to 21-014 Verizon Roofing Hatch

I have moved hours before, but only in the current year.

Thank you,

Karen Underwood

Office Manager

  • Assuming you do this through enter time:  Whether you do this in an archived year or the current year, the PR tax file it will use is your current (2022) tax file, unless you restore the PR tax file from 2021 before you do it, and then change it back to the 2022 tax file after your done.  Knowing what a pain that is, I would opt for doing this in the current year (2022).  Although you think it will be a "wash", it may not be if your payroll insurance, state unemployment, or other factors have changed.  So doing this in the current year may not completely correct the jobs.  Even if everything is a "wash" it most likely will send entries to GL that you will need to post.

You will want to backup the entire data folder before you try it so you can restore from backup if the results are unacceptable.

Assuming it will let you go through change time:  A method we use when it's a questionable situation is to create a dummy data folder and copy all of our live date folder over to it and play with what we'd like to try in the dummy data folder.  Then we can see in the dummy data folder how that worked before we mess up in our live data folder.

  • Thank you Rhonda,

I ended up just making JC journal entries to adjust the jobs.

    Thank you for your response.
