1099's

SOLVED

This is our 1st year on Sage 300 CRE - I just printed out the 1099 preparation report and found some errors.  Is there a way to fix the amounts due on for the 1099?  One example is that A/P used the wrong vendor when issuing a check so that the 1099 is showing $6000 more than it should be.

Thank you!

    Hi Deb,

You basically have 3 options for getting the correct amount on the 1099s:

    - Option I: Correct the data in AP. So in the example you mentioned, the check would need to be voided that was issued on the wrong vendor, then re-recorded on the correct vendor. This will ensure that the amounts are corrected on both vendors and rest of the data reflects that so that other reports will be correct. Also, if the Recalculate 1099 Totals ever gets used, the data will be correct so that it will calculate the correct totals for these vendors. However, for the vendors where the 1099 total is wrong because the total didn't get updated correctly or because of timing when the 1099 year was closed, then using the Recalculate 1099 Totals will be helpful in those cases. See Sage Knowledgebase article 21507 My 1099 totals are incorrect in Accounts Payable

    - Option II: Manually override the 1099 totals for the vendors using Audit Setup Activity. Sage Knowledgebase article 21503 How do I manually edit 1099 amounts for Accounts Payable vendors? The caveat with this option is that if the Recalculate 1099 Totals gets used, you will have to manually change the amounts on those vendors again.

    - Option III: Change the amount during the generation of 1099s in Aatrix's 1099 Preparer window. You can edit the amounts in the 1099 preparer window. The caveat with this option is that the changes are not written back to Accounts Payable. So the only record you will have of the amount is from your 1099 copies.
