3rd Party Payroll Company

I am looking at using Exak Time in correlation with my Payroll module in Sage CRE 300.  Can anyone tell me that uses a 3rd party payroll company whether it be Exak Time or something different, any and all things?

I'd like to get as much feedback as I can before making the jump.

Thanks!!

Whitney A.

  • We are currently using ExakTime and don't really have any issues. We've also used T-Sheets before. Either imports well in PR and captures job costing well.   I recommend using a Sage Professional in assisting with beginning balances and setup.

  • We currently use ExakTime.  It works well for what we need.  The two issues that we have are that the web application is slow and that it is expensive.  It costs us less for outstide payroll processing than it does for the timekeeping from Exaktime.

  • We use HH2 web based time clock system, its working good so far.  They charge monthly subscription no contract, may worth checking out.

Hi RosaLynn! Could you tell me if with using the HH2 how many programs you have to use in addition to the HH2 and your Sage CRE? For example- We are doing the 30 day trial period with Exaktime, and with that software I currently have to; use their website, a syncing software, an account linking software, and then still my Sage payroll.  Is HH2 like that? Or is it strictly web based and everything is imported and exported from a website?

Hi Nikki- we are currently using Exaktime for the 30 day trial period.  The issues I am running in to are:  My locations and cost codes are not linking over correctly.  I put specific codes for each location.  I was under the impression it would pull that information from the synclinx & accountlinx in to Exaktime connect and show each location and ONLY the codes pertaining to that location.  But it is pulling every cost code I've ever entered in to Sage for each location I add to Exak Connect. I've been in contract with both Exaktime and Sage today and neither really gave me an answer or any idea how to fix the problem.

HH2 is it!   From my understanding HH2 is a direct program partner with Sage and it syncs/link to SAGE, then once entries are approved from HH2, it will create a .txt format that you can import directly to Sage -> Tools -> Import Time.  Hope this helps :)

PR process is still done in Sage PR, HH2 just eliminate/helps the tidious single line entries in Sage.

We use hh2 as well and its the only thing you need. They install a sync agent onto your Sage server which synchronizes all of your jobs, cost codes, employees, etc and then the rest of the program is web based. Once you are done reviewing time in hh2, you create an export file and then import that into Sage for processing payroll. We have been with hh2 since 2014 and have been very happy with their product and service. I highly recommend!

Does HH2 do clock in and out and can you do descriptions?

  • in reply to DawnMc

YES, it has PunchClock function.  Major reason why we opted for HH2, we set up Ipads on sites for field guys to punch in/out.  Not sure what you meant by description?

  • in reply to DawnMc

If you're looking for a field where you can enter additional informaiton, then yes, there is a comment section that allows whoever is entering time to make notes.  Those notes are carried to the time timecard.

Rosa/Aaron - Yes Aaron notes on the work performed.  Also HH2 was really high in price when I looked at it last has that changed?

  • in reply to DawnMc

It's a tiered billing based on employee counts.  If you have less than 25 employees it starts around $250/mo. and goes up roughly $70/mo per group of 25 employees.

For us, the price was justified by the time saved in data entry and the review process to check for and correct data entry errors.

This is what I am looking for @ Aaron.  I'm not impressed with Exaktime thus far. I'm running essentially 3 programs in addition to Timberline(sage).  A local company to me also uses HH2 and she has invited me to come watch her do her payroll process next week. I hope to be able to make a decision by then.

Hi Nikki, I'm curious to know more about your Exaktime/Sage integration.  We've been using Exaktime and I know it must use a location/job to sync hours into Sage.  My issue is that we have had to create Admin and Overhead jobs in order to collect time and sync to do payroll. Now the issue is that Sage is identifying everything with a Job number as a direct expense, which is not the case for admin and overhead labor costs.  Is this an issue for you and how do you work around it?

We only use Exaktime for our field employees.  A workaround would be to set up an indirect cost job for the year and put the cost codes you want for indirect costs as what the employees pick when the clock in and out.  So basically, a dummy job for all your indirect costs.
