Direct deposit pay stubs

What are people using for direct deposit pay stubs? Just a stub? A stub with a $0 check? Pre-printed?

  • Hi LinetteS,

What we have our clinets do is order check stock without the MICR line and without check numbers.

  • I print it on regular paper.   Or email it to them if they prefer.    For our filing...I cut off the bottom part to give them and then staple the top part to our report.

  • We had our support company write a crystal report for our pay stubs, happy to send you off a copy of one, if you would like.  please respond to:  [email protected]

Debora, what mechanism do you use to email it? Are you sending individual emails only to those who request it? Or is there functionality in Sage to mass send?

Another follow up question for you. When you print on regular paper, are you able to print headings for your stub info? My stubs show hours, rate, gross pay, etc., but just the numbers print. There are no headings, so I get complaints that people don't know what the numbers are. When we were using pre-printed checks, all of those headings were formatted/preprinted on the check stub. Is there a way to get Sage to do that?

I have sage 100c...just realized this is under sage 300.  So that may be the issue.    We are able to enter the email the same place we enter the direct deposit info.    Also, the headings do show on the plain paper.  The best choice if we are in different programs, might be to use the crystal report deb talked of below.

I see. Thank you for the info!

  • Linette,

You have multiple options depending on your initial investment and desired outcome.

You can order pre-printed Direct Deposit stock that can have a perforation if desired.  You can then print to that stock using Sage's canned/default Check formats.  You can also have a custom report created to offer more flexibility.  This is generally done using Crystal Reports as Deb mentions.  If you choose to go with the Crystal Reports (or custom report) path, you can also print on plain paper.  As for your copy, you also have options of printing 2 copies, printing one and keeping a portion or simply running reports or reprinting when needed.  With custom reporting, you are able to have much more control over the design of the Pay Stub.  It generally will be determined by how much information do you want to provide your Employees on their Pay Notification.

For electronic delivery, again several options.  Sage offers Sage My Assistant which can be configured to automatically email each employee their copy of their Pay Notification and can be configured to require a password.  HH2 is a company that offers Time Keeping processes that integrates with Sage 300 CRE and also offers the ability to email Pay Notifications to Employees.  There are other choices as well.

I would recommend reaching out to your Business Partner of record, or you can contact me directly if you have more questions.

  • We were using HH2 Remote Payroll to make the  DD stubs electronically available (Mobile Friendly) before we moved payroll to a Payroll processor.

  • You could also use MyAssistant for this function...emailing stubs to employees with password protection. It has literally hundreds of other uses across your company so I do suggest talking to your Sage Business Partner about reviewing it.

  • MyAssistant is the way to go.  But it does so much more

  • We use MyAssistant. It automatically generates pay stubs and emails (password protected) to each individual employee.
