The employee ID is a key field to identify each unique employee record. Therefore it is not possible to have more than one employee record in the same PR Master file with the same employee id number.  

Additionally, we recommend using Unique employee ids and not reuse an employee id that was used on a previous employee that has been terminated even if that employee is never going to return to work for you.

Agreed, that is the plan going forward - thank you. So my question is what will happen, will it reject the employee I am moving or would it overwrite the employee that was already moved?

The employee you are trying to move out of the folder will not move to the destination folder when the employee ID already exists in the destination folder.  It will continue to reject. Your options to move this employee out of the existing folder will be to either move this employee to a new archive folder, move the employee with that same ID out of the archive folder, or to leave it as it is knowing you won't be able to move that particular employee to the archive because an employee with that same employee id already exists there.

And one more, but this is billable... Have a key change performed to change the employee id in one of the folders to a different employee id number.

Sage Professional services can change the employee id but there is a fee for this service (called a key change). Let me know your Sage Customer number if you would like me to have someone contact you with more information about that option.
