Sage Paperless and Citrix Environments

SOLVED

Hello All,

Going to risk the waters here and ask my second question today.  We are implementing Paperless and most users will access through Citrix.  I had two questions surrounding this:

1-The instructions says pvaultupdater needs to be run each day on the Citrix servers.   Is this still correct and if so how are people dealing with it?  Simple as a scheduled process to run it each morning?

2-I noticed that the Outlook Addin does not work correctly in this shared environment.  It is a VSTO addin and past experience tells me the users roaming profiles are missing something to allow it to work.  Has anyone been successful in getting the Outlook Addin to successfully load in Citrix or Terminal Services?

Thanks!

    1. I believe you are referencing KB 61061. pVaultUpdater.exe runs when the Paperless module launches on any workstation, to verify its version against the server and the server's SQL Instance. This can be manually executed at C:\Program Files (x86)\Sage Paperless Construction\Local Client if installed locally. You certainly could set this exe as a scheduled process should you decide to.

    2.  The addin functioning depends on your setup in each Citrix environment. There will be differing registry access if you run it through RDP or a published app, so more information on your environment may be required to successfully troubleshoot. I have personally spoken with customers whom have had the addin run successfully through Citrix servers and terminal environments, though.
With a Citrix environment, it would be best to contact a Business Partner, Consultant or Microsoft support. Citrix and published applications do fall outside of Sage Scope of Support, per KB 67505.

    Matt,

Thanks for your reply.  Let me ask one question.  I noticed that when starting the app in Citrix it sometimes stops on the Searching for Scanners piece and does not move past it.  Would this be a result of not running the pvaultupdater in your experience or have you seen this issue at all in the past?

    Thanks

I have not personally encountered it hanging on that portion. If I had an assumption, I would say it is environmental. Being that Citrix is a virtual environment, Paperless may not be able to communicate to the locations it expects to find those scanners.
I would definitely go ahead and run the pVaultUpdater.exe just in case and see if it helps it move past this stage.

Thanks.  Do you know if there is a reg entry to just turn off the searching for scanners option? We will not be using any local scanners with our remote people vs having them input via files saved on their PC's.

Set the following key value to 0.
    \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Paperless Environments\pVault Imaging System\1.0 called Scan_EnableTWAIN

Thanks Matt.  I appreciate your time and replies.  I have so far isolated the issue of it stopping at checking scanners to one PC but not yet knowing what the issue is I am unsure if it will crop up on others.  I do know that it stops when the local system, from the remote system, is checked for scanners as I was watching processes and where they were making calls locally.  If I find other stations doing this then having this reg key may be our savior on that front.
