Connecting Parts to Assemblies

Whenever a part is updated a Gold arrow pointing to the left appears by that part number in an Assembly.  It appears to do nothing but cause problems.

1.  Is there a way to get rid of all of them at one time?

2.  Has anyone figured out if they actually work as described in the Knowledgebase information?

The information provided claims a Red Arrow (appears gold on our computer screens) means the item will be included in an assembly.

If you switch it to a green arrow it seems that will include underlying manufacturing labor costs.

If you uncheck the arrow it will not be included.

However, all this does not pan out.  The only thing that works is to uncheck the arrow from each line item.  First you double click and change the arrow to green and then you doubleclick and change the arrows to blank.  Only then will it calculate

The color is probably determined by your window's theme on your pc.

When you say your updated a part, what exactly did you do?  Change the part cost? replace the existing part with a new one?

The help tells you how the different colored arrows affect the calculation.

In an assembly, you can determine whether the part is connected to or disconnected from the assembly. When a part is connected, Sage 100 Contractor computes the part’s extended quantity in a takeoff based on the assembly quantity. When you insert a part in an assembly, the part automatically connects to the assembly and displays a red assembly arrow icon next to the part.

You can also include a part but not connect it to the assembly, which lets you control the quantity independent from the assembly. Suppose you have an assembly for installing light fixtures, and the assembly includes a ladder. You do not need to purchase a new ladder with each job; including the ladder in the assembly serves as a reminder to bring it when installing the light fixtures. So the quantity for the ladder is zero, and the part is disconnected from the rest of the assembly. When a part is disconnected, the assembly icon cell is blank.

If the part is for labor, you have the additional choice of connecting it to a building material part in the assembly instead of the assembly itself. When connected to a building material part, Sage 100 Contractor computes the extended quantity for the labor part based on the extended quantity of the material part. If that material part is connected to the assembly, the part’s extended quantity is determined from the assembly quantity. Next to the labor part, Sage 100 Contractor displays a green assembly icon arrow.

That is what the directions say.  However it does not work.

An item added to an assembly hs an arrow attached to it.  It does not automatically accept the new item.

Then you need to double click the arrow to move it from left to right.  Then you need to double-click the arrow again to delete it.

When you load the assembly the next time, you need to go through the list and quadruple-click each line item.
