Payroll entries in Job Cost Journal

Hello,

I am bringing up an issue that I just would like some feedback and/or recommendations for. We use Sage 100 Contractor and Procore. Our Project managers can see total job costs per budget line inside of procore, but not the cost detail. Therefore, a process we started a whole back to make is to send out a Job Cost Journal by Cost Code for all current jobs to all of our PMs so they can scan through and see cost details they need. This is especially important to them before they do monthly job projections.

The issue is that all of these job cost journals include the daily payroll entries for Project Manager and Superintendents, and any other employees being charged to jobs. Although this amount includes other things with payroll such as health insurance, payroll taxes, etc., any person with a little common sense could compare each employees entries to see who is being paid more than who. This is something we would like to prevent if possible, so I am hoping to get some feedback from how other people handle this.

I imagine we will make the move to Intacct at some point, which I have a feeling may have much better "permissions" so we can allow Project managers in Sage to view their job cost details and maybe somehow prevent that cost code from being seen.

Any input is appreciated!

Hi, Ralls. You can modify the physical reports to not show employee names as part of the cost record, if that's what you're looking for. I'm assuming you're using the reports under 6-1-2. You can contact Sage Support for guidance on doing the modification - it's a relatively simple change to the calculated field used to display the Employee, Vendor, or Equipment.
