does version 24.3.26.0 have the current 2023 payroll taxes?

SUGGESTED

At the beginning of the year we upgraded to 24.3.26.0.  I am wondering if I need to upgrade again for more payroll tax rates?  We are in Washington state.

Hi GAF. We released another update (24.3.38) that contains additional state tax updates that were published by the states after we released our December update. But, more importantly this latest update addresses an issue with the YTD Wages on paychecks, so I would highly advise updating to the current version. Details are in the Release Notes.

I have version 24.3.45 and I have a problem with payroll rates ( SUI and FUTA) . The program does not calculate the right rate for those taxes, still in the rate from last year. Does anyone has this problem?

We are using 24.3.38.  I am not experiencing any problem.  Are you aware that you can go to 5-3-1 and manually change the rates?

Hi Patty. Sage 100 Contractor does not automatically maintain the SUI and FUTA rate tables, only Federal and State withholding tables. You will need to manually update the SUI and FUTA rates and maximums. Instructions for this are KB article 21483. And yes, 24.3.38 has the updated 2023 withholding tables for federal and all states that have published them as of January 10th (24.3.45 had no tax updates, just fixes).

I changed  the rates and update to all employees but the program still calculate the FUTA rate from  last year and the SUTA has no limit, the calculation goes over the limit that I put.

Can you verify in 5-2-1 that under the employee's Calculations tab, that the correct Rate and Max are there?

You need to go under "Options" to apply the rate to employees when you have FUTA or SUTA on the screen after you manually put the rate in.

FYI the FUTA rate I think is the same as last year.

I check all employees and they have the right rates and the right max amount that I put in there but the year to date is not correct. It is over the limit. I increase the FUTA because the IRS charge me an additional amount saying that my rate was wrong. they rate me at 9% instead of 6%  last year. My problem will be my quarterly reports if I do not fix this issue.

Patty, I would suggest you contact Sage Support so a support tech can remote into your system and see what is causing the issue.

yes, I think i have no choice. Thank you all for trying to help.

I think you are referring to the extra tax you had to pay last year.   Its called the "credit reduction" and shows up on the last page of the annual FUTA report.

There were several states that this occurred.  That does not necessarily mean you will pay the higher rate this year.  It depends on whether your state pays off their loan from the feds.  It happed 3 years in a row about 15 years ago.

Did you archive payroll from 2022?  If not, did you use the new "close payroll" in menu 5-3-8?  Those will affect your year to date values too.

yes is the credit reduction tax. I increased 2% just to make sure I do not owe them too much at the end of the year, in case I need to pay.  If I over paid the IRS will send me back the difference. Sage is investigating why the program is not calculating the correct amount. It calculated all the p/r taxes correct except the FUTA and SUTA. My Tech did the year end process for  payroll, and I did put the new rates before I entered payroll this year. Too bad I just realized the issue today and not at the beginning!
