Up grading from BW2012 to BW2018

Time to upgrade to 2018. I was told by Sage to just upload the BW2018. Reading thru online material my data and custom forms must be converted to 2018. After installing will this be an automatic prompt for me to do? 

Another question. BW2012 is installed on a single computer at work. Can I download 2018 onto a laptop so I can take my work home? I know to restore data and system. Can 2012 data and system be restored to 2018 Businessworks..  I kinda a want to make sure it all works on laptop before I install on office computer.

    We have Knowledge Base articles on upgrading and moving to a new computer.  You can restore V2012 data to a V2018 install, but the data will have to go through a data update to convert to v2018.  (The data is UPWARD compatible, but not DOWNWARD.  You cannot restore V2018 into a V212 database.)   For instructions on how to upgrade to the current version see article #51401 How to upgrade to the current version of Sage BusinessWorks Accounting and #78607 is a Video you can watch.  You can upgrade from v2012 straight to v2018.  To move to a new computer see #51648 How to move the current version of Sage BusinessWorks Accounting to a new server or location.   If you have any other specific questions regarding your specific issue, I would recommend calling 800-447-5700 to work with a support analyst.
