Report Builder and Codes

SOLVED

I am customizing the AR Customer List report.  I want my report to show if the customer is active or inactive.  The Customer Status field I can use returns the codes 0 for active and 1 for inactive.  Does anyone know how I can get the Customer Status Description instead of Customer Status Code, or how to put a conversion formula into the report so it prints Active or Inactive instead of the number?

If you have custom office, you should be able to recreate the desired report thru custom export, and then review the data in excel

    Click on

AR -> TRANSFER -> Custom Export

    Start a new report

    Give it a description  (NEXT)

Select Data source - AR Customer  (NEXT)

Select all the data filed you need for the report, ( the Status is at the bottom of the select list)  (NEXT)

    Choose a SORT   (NEXT)

    choose a set  (criteria)   (DONE)

From the custom report dialog box select your report and then (EXPORT), depending on your PC/Network it may take a few seconds

    VIEW the report

Play in excel  ( filters is a great feature for data tables)

Janab-  In reviewing the tables, the description status would be in the A/R Customer Status table using the field "StatusDesc".   That table may not be available on all reports - I did not see it for the Customer List.   If you own Custom Office you have additional options to add tables to a custom Report.  OR I would recommend using the Custom Export option in AR.  Using the Customer Data Source in there you can export both the Status and the Status Description.  For additional questions regarding out tables and fields see KnowledgeBase Article #19339 Where do I find the table and field names?

    Thanks,

Thank you very much, Vince!  I didn't think we had Custom Office, but I was able to do as you directed.  Thank you also for the very clear steps!

Thank you, Coleen. That Custom Export feature is great to know about.  If all fails, I can get data into Excel where I can write formulas.

It's a great tool and available in all the modules.  And when you are creating your custom export/reports, use the Knowledge #19339 to help give you better definition of our fields and what they represent

    Thanks,
