Problem backing up upon exit

SUGGESTED

Hey Sage Support Team!

One of my clients just updated to Windows 10 yesterday.  One desktop in particular has always been a little quirky with the backups, so I thought it was user error with a hyperactive clicker finger.

At the end of the day, client (from this point forward called "Clicker") called me to say she couldn't back up again.  We looked in the Network Status Report, and she was the only one shown on the list.  I had her minimize everything to make sure there were no reports or other prompts lurking.  Everything was closed.  It was Friday, and she wanted to go home.  So I told her to go enjoy the weekend, and that later that evening I would log in  remotely to fix things.  I thought perhaps Clicker somehow removed the backup path, and it had to be reset again.

When I logged in later, I checked the DBRegister.  There were 3 "Masters" in the register, so I disconnected all users.  Then I logged in and did a back up from the File menu.  The backup path was where it was supposed to be, and it completed successfully.  BUT... when I exited BW, a prompt popped up that BusinessWorks tasks were still active.  I clicked the "OK, Whatever" button, exited, then opened DBRegister again.

Yeah, those 3 Masters were back.  And yeah, I disconnected them.

So who are these Masters and why are they haunting Clicker?  Are they ghosts from Windows 7 past?  Or are they just in rehearsal for Christmas Carol in July?  Any clue into this mystery will be appreciated!

Hope you are all having a wonderful summer!

    Hi Vicky,
We apologize for the delay in responding to you. They may be using a 3rd party that might be automatically connecting or something like the ACT link. Also do they have anything in startups that might be launching off the screen. If it seems to happen only on one computer, uninstall Sage BusinessWorks and Pervasive and then reinstall.

    Vicky-
I actually saw something similar with a customer the other day with running tasks when trying to close BW after a backup. The customer recently upgraded to Windows 10, but they also had some other changes in their network their computer person did, but they are not sure what. The odd thing, it only happened to one BW user. On the same machine if logged in as user X did a backup and closed out of BW everything was fine. Logged out of BW as user X and logged in as user Y, did a backup - successfully, but when closed BW, it would say she had BW tasks running too. We had to clear them in dbregister. She was going to have her computer person look at their system because they were also getting proxy server errors when trying to download other files too. I think it maybe something new with Windows 10. I do not see anything reported in our Knowledge Base at this time, so we would probably want to start a case and do some additional troubleshooting with you.

    Hi Coleen,
Thanks for the reply! I will talk to their IT guy and ask him to check all the settings on her computer. If he finds anything, I'll post back here so you can share the info.
