Running Payroll Reports for Prior Years

Why can't I run a report for a year that is closed?  It's not like I'm making changes, I just need totals.

    The only way is if you have a archived copy of that year, you can open it and run the reports you need that way.  I ran into this when trying to do reports for a Covid tax program.  Fortunately I had the reports in pdf format and literally "remade" them in excel to get the info needed.
