CAN A REPORT BE BUILT THAT WILL TAKE ALL SALES ORDERS COMPONENTS AND COMPILE INTO A PRODUCTION REQUIREMENT LIST?

We are the manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler, and retailer of our given product, since we are the only ones in this country who create it. Looking to pull a basic piece count out of the total Sales Orders for a given amount of time), to get a projection amount, so we can calculate/schedule a production run. Thank you.

  • Hi ColletteD. Sounds like you want all "open orders" on a report, then have the report group like items, yes? This can be done with Crystal or the new report writer recommended by Sage, XLGL. If you are looking to engage a professional report writer, you may contact us at [email protected]

  • Greetings Colette,

There is an affordable product, Practical MRP, that is designed specifically for the information needs you have articulated.  It offers much more than what a report writer can and very likely more cost-effective in the long run.  The big difference here, with respect to conventional report writers, is that it is a desktop application that iterates your Bills-of-Material to determine total requirements for common child items.  Factoring in open orders, purchase orders, work tickets, and current inventory, Practical MRP can then give you an accurate picture of aggregated material requirements.  The operant word here is 'aggregated'.  Many will argue that this view isn't time-based, but the counter argument is that time-based isn't required by agile job-shop style manufacturers.

Full disclosure...I am the author of this product, as well as some others for Sage 50, and have been delivering such solutions since 2007.  This is a newer product and I welcome any input you may have to make it more useful for all.  Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.  You can reach me by phone or email listed on the site referenced.

    Best Regards,
