How do I update Sage 50 2021 from Build 28.1.01.0176 to 28.1.01.0511?

We have  Sage 50 2021 installed on a server and 4 client machines. 

One of the client laptops died, so I am reinstalling Sage onto a replacement laptop.

I found Sage50_2021.0.0.exe & PTXA2021.1.1.exe in the Sage UPDATES directory. 

I first installed Sage50_2021.0.0.exe. After it was running properly, I then ran PTXA2021.1.1.exe , and this updated to Build 28.1.01.0176

I thought this would be all I needed, but today when running Payroll from this client machine, there was a problem with the calculations on the 941 Tax Deposit Report. (The amounts due were calculating way too high.)

I remembered having this issue before, and it was corrected in an update to a higher Build number.  So sure enough, I checked the other machines, and they are running 28.1.01.0511. 

And, when I run the 941 Tax Deposit Report from these machines, they show the proper amounts due.

I googled up some posts discussing the different builds, but couldn't find an actual link to the 0511 build file. 

So, the issue is, how do I find and download the update to Build 28.1.01.0511 ?

  • One thing that you can try is to uninstall 2021 on the computer giving you the problem, then download the latest download of Version 2021 from Sage's website, which will have the Build 28.1.01.0511 built in. You can then reinstall this, and the computer will then have the update. Another thing that sometimes works is to just attempt to load the Tax Update again (Tax2020Jul02_Release2021), making sure that you answer YES to continue with the install, even if it sees what it thinks is a higher install in place.     OK, thank you.  I will try the tax update first, and if that doesn't work, will uninstall and reinstall with the latest version. 

    I found the file "Sage50_2021.1.1.exe" from the Sage Knowledge base (427589kb).  Is this the correct file?

    Thank you.  I just downloaded it.  Your most recent link does seem to be the same as the one I had before (- the file size and name are identical -) but I will use your link to be sure.

    All seems good now. 

    The re-installation of the Tax Update (Tax2020Jul02_Release2021) did not work to force the Build update, so i uninstalled Sage completely and then re-installed with the latest full download.  Immediately after installation, the Build was still showing .0176, and the tax file was Jul2020.  So I ran the latest Oct 2021 Tax Update, and that also updated the Build to .0511.  I was also able to confirm that the Tax Deposit report was calculating and printing correctly.
