Sage 50 could not be opened because the company data location at... could not be accessed or is not a valid company data location.

SOLVED

After installing Sage 50 and trying to run it I get the above message.  I can see and access the folder/files in the mapped drives.

Now I looked into it and tried some troubleshooting from KB10259.  I went through the troubleshooting sections and discovered that running Sage 50 normally throws the error, but running it as an admin Sage 50 works like a charm.

However, this PC that Sage 50 is on is going to a person that does not need admin privileges (due to security concerns from my IT supervisor).  I looked into other workers who also have Sage 50 and their accounts are set to admin, but they're higher up in position compared to the person in question.

Other than setting the person as admin, are there any other paths I can take to get Sage 50 to work?

    UPDATE 6-12-23:

Found the issue.  After I set the person to admin, Sage 50 no longer worked and threw the above error.

So after much testing found the problem to be "wrong data path".

    1. Make sure to have 'view hidden files" on then go to the path below:

    C:\ProgramData\Sage\Peachtree

    2. Look for the ini file in this folder.  Depending on the version of Sage 50 you have it would be a different file name (mine was Peachtree300.ini)

Open the ini file and look for 'DATAPATH=

    3. I changed it to where my company stores their Sage 50 data on the server (Example in my case: \\ServerName\Sage\DataFiles\), save, and close the ini.

Ran Sage 50 again as a non-admin and it works.
