Sage 2023 Update Failure and Repair

SUGGESTED

I am just checking to see if there is any recent good news on trying the update again?  Is anyone still experiencing the debilitating lack of function of the 2023 version?  I don't want to go through another update before I should, as it is costly to re-load this if it is still not working.

I am still in disagreement with Sage on their discontinuance of the 2022 version when it works and the 2023 is still fraught with issues. If Sage people are actually listening to these messages, be advised that we are real companies and people that are having real issues, not customers only identifiable by their customer number.  You should not move on to the next version just because it is your tradition.  You should only move when it works. I reiterate that your moves cost us money and time if not done well.

I look forward to hearing back from anyone with their current status and if you feel things have Improved or not.

We are waiting until this weekend's scheduled maintenance is completed in case it has any adverse effects on an update that may already cause us issues.

Thank You for that info.  It is a good idea based on other issues.

Well said Wise1. Seems like Sage sits back and cowers, not wanting to respond to serious questions such as yours. Hard to hold any respect for the company giving how they handle problems. Seems about like dealing with the government, "just trust us" even though we have marginal reasons to, given the problems and deafening silence to valid questions. So what happens, come March 1st Sage? Does 2022 just simply quit working?? This is a serious question, Or does 2022 keep working, but if we have a problem, they ain't helping?? How about an honest direct answer from your PAYING customers.

My understanding is the program will work, just as other customers still use versions older than even 2022. However, it is the support that ends, so support will not help unless you have the most recent version. I think they should still support 2022 until these issues are fixed, but I don't work for them. I can't speak personally on the issues of 2023 simply because we have avoided the upgrade seeing so many others have problems. We don't have time or resources to deal with that.

    Hi  and all,

Thank you for reaching out. I've forwarded this post onto the Sage 50 US support management team for review.

The team recently advised that we have resolved the most common issue with the new release (performance issues in inventory lists, referenced here).  We are continuing to work on any remaining issues. Sage 50 US version 2022 will be supported through March 1st, 2023. This is in line with our FAQ page for supported versions and obsolescence. Obsolete versions don't receive any tax or program updates.  So if an issue is encountered in an obsolete version, we'll generally do what we can to support, but support may require an upgrade.

Related to the large data set issue, if you haven't already, we encourage anyone who encounters this issue to reach out to our support team so that we can gather more information. If you haven't already, please contact us using the contact details listed here.

As a workaround, resetting the current column settings and refraining from adding any columns designated with an asterisk (*) will alleviate the issue for the time being. Refer to Section 2 in this knowledgebase article for more details.

    Warm Regards,

    Erzsi

Thanks Erzsi, I sincerely appreciate your answer.  Do you have any kind of list of what other issues we need to be aware of?  I am an accountant with a lot of varied companies.....

Where can we send the bill for lost hours and grief due to Sage's botched release of 2023? Sage just expects us end users to test their software for them, waste our money and time uninstalling/reinstalling/troubleshooting problems that should have been dealt with before release.

    Erzsi & Others:

I am not feeling very confident based on things I am reading from others. I find your response to be the same old answer but still seeing people not having success with the updates. Sage should be supporting customers for a bit longer rather than just chopping off service just because it is on the calendar. We have scheduled another attempt at updating for tomorrow.  I am not sure at all about this decision at this point and I am very weary & disappointed that Sage is not honoring their own program and customers with proper support until these issues are fully corrected. A switch apparently cannot be flipped to make it all work and as such a switch to turn off support should not be flipped.

I am doing more research online for some good news.  Anyone out there have good experiences with the update and additional fixes? Is it working as it should once you update? What difficulties did you have on your second attempts at update.  I really want to hear what advice you may have. Thanks. Wise1

Yeah, I've just joined to also find out if the water is still too cold to jump in for the 2023 version.
My company has already gotten burned by the Upgrade, install - stops working correctly, uninstall reinstall on multiple workstations thing. It's terrible.

They may be ending support but I feel like if the software is working fine for 2022 why not just wait some more? Probably gonna try it out again with the "Product and Services" on our server to see if it's still working too slow.

Hello Jimmy2Times.  I did just post an update today but I guess I posted as a reply.  We did jump in the pond yesterday. I would rather have waited too but it has turned out ok.  Please read below for an excerpt from the post.  If you search for the user OscarDiazOrco you will find the whole post and the Sage reply.. Good Luck.

Well Folks, I have a little good news.  I previously posted about our bad experiences, so it is only fair to post about the good ones too.  Our IT person has successfully installed the 2023 Quantum update on our server and helped me to finish out on our workstations. For all appearances, it seems to be working properly. There are no long waits for our reports or inventory lists. (as long as you don’t ask for too many * options.)  No horrible lock-ups.  All users seem to be able to work at the same time.  This is day one after the installation and I believe it is working relatively well.  As time moves on we will see if there are other individual issues, but as to the day-to-day functionality it appears that their updates have been successful.  I am hesitant to state we have full success as we have not processed through all functions and processes as of yet, but things seem to be mostly ok.  I do feel some relief to finally be running at a reasonable speed and function.

I do want to thank those that posted information that ultimately was helpful with ideas about re-installing the update. It did help me to make a decision on when to install, what to wait, on etc.
