Sorting and subtotals on Financial Statements Reporting

SOLVED

Very frustrated with reporting of Financial Statements on SAGE 50.

I have account ID structure of 1234-56-78

1234 = Account number

56 = Numeric department number

78 = department subaccount category

I want to issue financial operations reports in following sequence within each Account Type (Revenue; Cost of Sales; Expense)

Account Type: (Revenue; Cost of Sales; Expense) with subtotal for each Account Type

Department (Numeric sort) with subtotal for each department within Account Type

Subaccount (numeric sort) with subtotal for each subaccount (if applicable) within each Department

Account number

I was told there was not capability to break out Account ID structure into separate fields for reporting.  It was stated that no one else has need to have this type of sorted data for financial reporting.  Account ID is the complete 10 digit field and the individual segments for account, department, and subaccount cannot be separated into individual fields for reporting.

Microsoft community has suggested Excel capability to download Account ID and use Text conversion to separate the Account ID segments into individual fields..

SAGE 50 Intelligence Reporting recommends having specialized SQL reports written.

Logicim XLGL, a Microsoft Excel add-in has also been suggested.

Quickbooks had capability to link accounts as subaccounts, thereby providing reporting capability to set up account structure to accommodate reporting needs.

I cannot believe no one else has need for this type of sorting of ledger information for financial reporting.

    What kind of Financial operation report do you want?  An income statement?

    If yes, go to Reports tab> Financial statements > standard income statement.

    Now choose the Account segments and you will have all the reports you need.

    If you need the grouped, why not add another segment with the grouping number?

    Kind regards,

    You can probably get what you want using the Financial Statement Design. I would suggest putting your Departments in Columns across the Statement because it would be the easiest. This is accomplished by specifically entering the Account Segment for the Activity under The Column Desc. You could then set up another Financial Statement as a Sub Ledger and design it to just show the Sub-Accounts in Columns across the Statement. There are other ways to design the report using the Sage Financial Report Designer's combination of Column Descriptions and Segments. If you would like some guidance, please send me a private e-mail and best way to contact you.

    Sorry, I've tried that option before and doesn't give me capability to sort financial statement the way I stated in my request.

    Thanks for responding to my request and your suggestion.
