Is there a whitepaper for the Remote Data Access functionality?

SUGGESTED

I am in need of accessing my Sage 50 Quantum companies outside of my LAN.  I learned about RDA but the discussion on the forum do not present a solid solution; but rather a sensitive connection on the most critical of the components.  Has SAGE prepared a whitepaper that explains how RDA works?  Will SAGE 50 be better accessed remotely using a virtualization platform such as Citrix?

We've been using remote data access since 2020 and we've had constant issues.  It's not "remote" like we traditionally think.  The data first writes locally and then the .DAT data files are synced with the cloud.  This architecture presents many issues because if you're using a wireless network or Sage crashes or anything else that might result in the syncing of these files can crash your system.  We recently had an issue where our CHART.DAT was corrupted.  Don't know how or why, but it rendered our system useless.  Called Sage support and because this specific file was corrupted and the Rebuild Index feature encountered an error and couldn't complete, support had no solution to fix this.  They suggested reaching out to a third-party consultant to fix the issue, which perplexed me.  Each consultant/vendor/partner I talked to discourages their clients from using remote data access for exactly these reasons.  If you need a remote option, they suggested using a virtual hosting solution and we are in the process of researching that.  Our .DAT files could become corrupt at any time and there's no guarantee Sage support can address every issue.

The data recovery for a third-party vendor to fix cost us around $1,000.

There is no centralized database for Sage.  It uses Pervasive SQL and the data tables are stored as physical files within your Company folder.  If one workstation gets a corrupt dat and it syncs up to the "cloud" and collides with another users good file, prepare for headaches.  It's not remote data access, it's file synchronization access.  Buyer beware.  Hopefully they address this at some point.  Love the functionality of Sage, but architecture is not ready for a true "cloud-based" experience.
