Old Peachtree 2005 Windows 10 compatability?

SUGGESTED
Posted By FormerMember

I see from a forum search there were some issues with PT 2005 using Internet Explorer 8, so I'm not hopeful. I am not familiar with the software at all - I need to replace a Windows 7 computer that has it installed with a Windows 10 computer. If anyone has definitely info or experience one way or the other - please let me know. I would be most grateful! Thanks!

I don't think the version of IE is going to make a difference. It goes without saying you won't be able to run any kind of connected service, and you'll need the activation code (I hope you still have it). I would say the chances of it installing and running are about even if you still have the disk, and it still works.

I used pt complete on windows 8 with no issues. However I was not doing payroll or anything internet based ... only a/p and g/l ...I upgraded to windows 10 and it is working fine. Except it is telling me I only have 5 more uses and is not recognizing registration.. sage says I have to upgrade. But I think I will put Pt 2005 back on my windows 8 machine.

Don't you deserve better than that?

    Hi Jill,

The problem you have is that the PT 2005 version is not really compatible with the new Windows 10 operating system so yes you will have to upgrade to a Sage Premium Accounting version 2019, 2020 or the most current version 2021 to work with Windows 10 and you will need to purchase the perpetual license (you own the software) rather than the subscription plan that requires you to renew every year or you will get locked out. Sage only sells the subscription plan but I am a Sage Authorized Solution Provider and I can sell you the perpetual software if you are interested in upgrading.

However the version of Sage 2019 and higher will not automatically convert the data from the PT2005 company data because that data is too old to convert, which means you will have to pay for someone to convert your company files for you. I can help you with that conversion as well.

Having said all of that, you can restore the PT 2005 back to the Windows 8 machine and continue on as usual.  At some point if you choose to update to a more current version of Peachtree (now called Sage 50) you may decide to just start a new company with the new software rather that going through the data conversion process.

Hopefully you have found my comments useful. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
