Accounts Receivable comes in earlier than I want it recorded...

SUGGESTED

We have a new bank that inputs our deposit as soon as we get it, which is a few days earlier than the month it needs to be accountable for.

For Example:

Deposit for April drops in March 30th

Is there a way to input this correctly so that the amount shows up in the April reports, but it is still available for the March reconciliation?

Hope this makes sense...

Essentially, our monthly budget numbers are off because of when the deposit is accounted for in the incorrect month.

Thanks for your help

Change the Customer Default settings Tab Pay Methods Assign Deposit Ticket ID's to In Select for Deposit (1). This allows you to receive the money against the customers account in a prior month (2) , but then under "Tasks" Select for Deposit make the deposit date into the next month (3) . See attachments. 1. Customer Defaults, 2. Receive Money 3. Select for Deposit

Thank you so much for your detailed answer.

Unfortunately, this is not a "normal" customer.  As in, the deposit we received is not based on invoices due, but rather on membership fees received.

Each month the amount received is different, but it is always in one lump sum.

Any additional ideas would be SO appreciated

I worked with a client that had a similar situation.   They had to show a deposit on the invoice but it could not be posted until the beginning of the current month on the clients  account.

They had been using another piece of software but we were able to create an elaborate set up in Sage 50 so they could collect the payment and clear the account but not post to the clients statement.  If you are also interested in something like this, please call me.  304-233-2612

If you don't need something that elaborate, just put it in a savings account and transfer it at the proper time.

    CALFIRE,

Are you saying your Bank posts a customer deposit on 3/29 for a lump sum of membership fees and you don't want those membership fees to post in the month of March but post to April?
