Minimum Sales Quantity

I would like to set up a minimum sales quantity in Sage 500 for customers, however, for different customers, I would like the minimum to vary. What is the best way to accomplish this?

The Minimum Sales Quantity in Sage 500 ERP is available only at the Item level.  There is not a way to set a minimum quantity by Item/Customer.  You could setup a tiered pricing (aka Price Breaks) that would provide a discount to a customer based on quantity ordered and make it very beneficial to them to order a quantity that you prefer they order by, but it still would not stop them from the order being created for a lower quantity in the system.

Had a client with the same problem and we ended up handling it by creating a separate set of items for these customers. Basically, it was just their item ID with a prefix but set up with the substitution of the regular item since the "personalized" items were never stocked. That solution, as well as using customer items, contract pricing and blanket orders worked for a while, until they wanted to expand from the original 20 or so items and 3-4 customers. The expanded solution was to configure the quantity price breaks in contract pricing, then customize Enter Sales Orders and the SO API to support the automated quantity change.
