Reimporting Sage 300 Customers into Sage CRM

Three related questions regarding Sage 300 2012 and Sage CRM 7.1:

1. When we implemented Sage CRM, we imported all of our Sage 300 customers into CRM. For about six months, some of the Sage 300 users didn't have the Integration piece up and running within their Sage 300. They were receiving errors but never notified anyone. This resulted in some customers being added to Sage 300, and never ending up in Sage CRM. The question is, if we logon to Sage CRM now, go to Administration, Sage 300 Administration and run Import Customers, will we end up with duplicates in Sage CRM because some of the Sage 300 customers do, in fact, exist in Sage CRM.

2. If we do re-import all customers, and don't have a duplication problem, will the customers that previously existed in Sage CRM be updated with information from Sage 300? For example, if the address, phone numbers and primary person is different in Sage 300 compared to Sage CRM, will the Import Customers function update the them in Sage CRM?

3. We have custom fields in the Customer entity. If we do re-import all customers, will the data in our custom fields be cleared out for those records that do exist already in Sage CRM?

Of course, we will be doing a full backup before running this, but before that, I'd like to find out the theoretical answers to these questions if anyone knows.

Thanks!

To answer your questions, import will not create duplicate, it will update with correct phone/address and does not affect custom fields that are not coming from Sage 300. However, to be safe, you should import one customer using same customer id in From and To field to see the result.
