Sage 300 and AutoSimply Barcode application very slow

SUGGESTED

Hello fellow Sage 300 users and IT Admins,

We are using Sage 300 2022 and we use AutoSimply Barcode application along with our Sage 300. We currently are on the latest PU for Sage 300 2022 and we even have the latest customized AutoSimply Barcode 2022 application where we use Shop Floor module as well. However, after building out our servers to 2019 and maximizing our server memory and processor resources, Sage 300 2022 has improved from its initial slowness but our AutoSimply Barcode 2022 is very slow to process clock in time, job posting, stopping of clock time, closing of operation and posting, then logging out. I have the following questions if anyone is using this similar setup:

1) Do you have certain specific settings for IIS that makes your barcode application run faster if you are using AutoSimply Barcode?

2) What is your current server setup like? Mine are VMs, 2019, 32GB RAM for SQL, 16GB RAM for Sage 300 2022 application server and 16GB RAM for our RDS terminal server for our East Coast Branch users to remote connect into.

3) Is there a way to maximize speed for Sage UIs and Barcode to run faster?

4) Is there anything else with server settings that can be set to allow better performance when running Sage and AutoSimply Barcode?

Thank you so much for you time.

We've found that in 90+% of cases, anti-virus / anti-malware are the direct cause of performance issues.
When possible, I would suggest completely disabling all A/V on all three servers (for a short period and of course while all users are off the system) then collecting some performance values  for the functions you indicated above.  This may at least allow you to narrow your focus to A/V vs infrastructure setup / configuration.  One other item to consider would be possible firewalls between any of the three servers.

  • Hi :)
Thank you so much for your response. When you say disabling all A/V, do you mean the default Windows Defender? If so, I have disabled it on all three servers. As for firewall, do you mean local system firewall or network firewall? If it is possible that it is local system firewall, I can try and create a rule on each server to allow the other's IP to be fully allowed through. Do you know of anything within SQL that I can set as well to help Sage process data and reports faster perhaps? I'm fairly new to the world of Sage 300 so I'm trying to learn and gather as much guidance / knowledge as possible from the community of experienced users. I truly appreciate any / all inputs.

Make sure 100% of your system is on a LAN.  Do not have any system components going over the internet.

    Hi :)
Do you mean physical server over LAN and not VMs? Currently, they're all VMs and our LAN network checks as well as network firewall checks all pass and no breaks / loss of packets.
