I would like to know how order entry staff can search for items in order entry by the manufacture's item number. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Andrew.

It's not possible with the current design to add search fields to the finder that have more than one possible result. Both Customer Numbers and Manufacturing numbers can have unlimited numbers for the same item number in IC. If you limit the system to only one Manufacturing Number per IC Item you could add the Manufacturing Item Number as an Optional Field for the IC item number as well. Optional Fields can be added to the finder. You could also add the Manufactures number to one of the IC Item Comment fields or the commodity number which are both available in the finder.

I find it astounding that there are 20 searchable fields in the “finder”, 18 that will never be used and “vendor item number” isn’t native to the list. This is silly and should be corrected.
I created a report that users can enter a full or partial of a vendor item and searches the full table for all instances of what you entered. works really well and is simple.
Vendor item adds a one-to-many relationship, you can't fit that on the standard data grid.
I'm betting that Tairox would be able to add something like that to their "smart search" setup much like they do with their improved finders. But it would still be up to the user to confirm the correct item. Like you say, it can be a one-to-many. You can have vendor # ABC123 be a cross to multiple different items. We run into that with our biz all the time.
Scanning the barcode in the item number field in OE order entry screen will "find" the item number and if there is more than one occurrence of the manufacturers item number it will pop-up a screen to select from.
