System Requirements for Sage 300

We are upgrading to Sage 300 in a small environment aka 3 people.  Or reseller is saying we need 32G RAM.  The only document I found that might relate to this shows 3 deployment scenarios of Standard, Advanced and Premium.  It doesn't elaborate as to what the difference between Standard, Advanced and Premium is other than it requires more RAM/PROC at each stage.  It also appears that Sage 300 is a 32bit app so I'm guessing any RAM requirements beyond 4G are related to SQL and the database.  I'm seeking clarification on RAM requirements and the difference between the different deployment scenarios Standard, Advanced and Premium.  Thanks.

The differences are in the amount of users, the modules used and how they are using the system.

Determining resources, you will need to consider how many users of the system (at one time), how are they accessing it, what are they using IN Sage 300 and on the system. Are they heavily using OE/PO or are they just entering a Journal entry every now and then. Are they running large reports. Do they all have a local workstation setup or are they all jumping onto the APP server.

Regarding the RAM requirements, check out the 'details' tab in task manager and see how many processes Sage 300 launches. Every Sage 300 window that is opened uses a process (the a4wcontainerXP.exe app is launched for each window). Even though a 32bit process can only access 3-4GB of virtual memory, stacking these processes together + system overheads + applications, you start needing a large amount of physical RAM.

Consider how those 3 people are using the system when determining system resources. Analyse the system during peak usage to gauge what's needed.

    1) If this is just going to be an application server then 4GB will be fine / I have a 10 user client that use 4GB and SQL Express - no problems & being used for many years - they are at v2017.

    2) if you are going to use this as an RDP server as well where the users will be signing on to it (and not using workstation), then you will need a lot more RAM - maybe 16to32GB

Ditto on those specs as long as it's a physical server.
