sage 300 web screens and reporting

SOLVED

Hi

I would like some clear direction on where Sage 300 is headed for reporting for the Web screens.

1   GL Financial Reporter   - Financial Reporter for Web UI - possibly on road map for August 22?  Whereas previously this had been ruled out?

2  Sage Intelligence - has not been updated since 66a and we often hear that it will be soon discontinued,  however it is still in the Sage 2022 documentation

3 SDMA  - when I approach most of my clients they say this is too expensive an option for them

4 I know Dingosoft have FRS

What are people doing or recommending for clients who would like to utilise Web Screens?

Thanks

Stacey

    Hey Stacey,

Great questions. Here are some answers for 1 and 2:

1   GL Financial Reporter   - Financial Reporter for Web UI - possibly on road map for August 22?  Whereas previously this had been ruled out? We are in development at this moment for the August 2022 release to bring FR to the Web. It will able to leverage the same formulas and spreadsheets that are available in the the desktop. We are excited about this and development is on-track.

2  Sage Intelligence - has not been updated since 66a and we often hear that it will be soon discontinued,  however it is still in the Sage 2022 documentation

This is still in the documentation since we have not yet delivered FR for the web. SIRC (Sage Intelligence Reporting Cloud) will be deprecated upon delivery (so soon thereafter) of FR for the Web.

    I hope this helps.

Thats Great John appreciate you taking time to response.

So the GL Financial Report though can only access Gl Tables, losing Sage Intelligence means we cant do any reporting on other modules.

Is there something in mind Sage have to replace that.

Also when we talk about deprecating SIRC, I assume that goes for the desktop versions too.

    Thanks

    SUGGESTED

    Hey Stacey,

If I look at our PM's roadmap, SIRC is slated for deprecation this August when we deliver FR for the web. The following year, SI is slated, but it also has a question mark on it. So, I do not believe the final decision for Sage 300 has been made at this point. Slight smile

As far as reporting, the Sage Data & Analytics feature is available in Sage 300 which allows reporting on data other than GL.

    Thanks.

I take it from this, that with the deprecation of SI, clients that use it now for statements and reporting on other modules should start transitioning away from SI.  Why wait for Spring...right??!!  I have a large client that relies heavily on it and this will be a huge imposition.

    Another great decision.

    Hey Terry,

Feel free to contact me to see if we have an alternative solution for your client. Others at ADSS have sold lots of FRS already.

    Cheers

John, it's not about an alternative, it's about having a consistent, non-expiring product set.

Rebranded "Sage Intelligence" was expected to take over from FR.  Now it is going the way of the 'dodo" bird.  Sage Data and Analytics is another 3rd party product rebranded to Sage that has a good chance of being replaced at some point.

Customers want consistency and reliability.  That's what it is about.

Hi Terry. Yes, I agree. But the products with consistency and reliability are all developed in the SDK. That way, whatever happens to Sage 300, they will keep working. That's why I developed FRS. It's fully developed in the SDK with standard Sage 300 screens and Crystal reports - just like every other standard Sage 300 report. I offered to sell or licence it to Sage, but after initially saying they were interested, they changed their mind. Also, I've been doing nothing but Accpac/Sage300 since 1992 and I'm not about to disappear now (even though CA/Accpac/Sage have never cut me a break in all that time. They don't even list my products on their website). My very first Sage 300 module (Trust Accounting) which was developed over 20 years ago is still available.

If you want consistency and reliability, as well as excellent support and help designing reports straight from the developer, you should go with FRS.
