Try renaming the _p.ism and and .wsp files in the user directory. Also, make sure Windows is not managing the default Windows printer.

OK, what do these files do and or where can I read about them? It seems to work.

They hold all the saved printer and finder settings for each user and company.  They get corrupted all the time.  Read about them on this forum.

The other thing I had to do for a user was to add a bunch of Sage user authorization privileges. So, the question is how can I efficiently determine which authorizations privileges I will need to run a crystal report. The problem is that the set of privileges that worked for Sage 2012 does not work with the same report for Sage 2020 which doesn't make any sense to me. If the authorization privileges are insufficient, the behavior is that Sage might crash or else the program does not complete. 

If you have to mess with privileges, then your reports aren't written correctly.  Never use NT authentication, always use login and password inside the Crystal editor.

Another followup question: We have the users folder shared across the network on a server \\erp19\sage\shareddata\users\username1, etc. 

So, if a user logs in on two different workstations with the same user name, would he tend to screw up these .ISM files? 

Unless the PCs have identical printers installed, it can indeed mess them up.

That's correct.  So I don't know what privileges you're referring to.

In the administrative services group, there are user authorizations on a sage user by user basis. The admin user is authorized for everything, but other users may be locked out of a module or certain functions of a module like approve to pay. I was not able to read the IC file unless some IC group authorizations were turned on. The problem is that which modules should I authorize and which functions for a given report. It's not as if there is a documented mapping somewhere that says you have to have "this authorization" to be able to read "that table".  

So, should I change the installation to have workstation specific "Shared Data" folders on the C drive then? I thought best practice was to have both programs and shared data on the server. 

I never heard of that before.  

ROTFL, absolutely not!  Shared data must be in a shared network location.  Tell the users not to use the same account on multiple PCs, or else they'll have to deal with their settings being reset periodically.
