SOTAMAS90 ODBC Driver extremely slow to update excel query

SOLVED

I have an excel spreadsheet that uses the SOTAMAS90 ODBC 64 Bit System DSN to update some data from our AP tables.

When I open this spreadsheet on the server with Sage 100 advanced installed the query completes and data is updated is less than 5 seconds.

When I open the same spreadsheet on any other machine, such as a Remote Desktop server in the same virtual environment as the Sage server, the same query update takes over 60 seconds and sometimes freezes up excel without completing. Both the sage server and the remote desktop server are plugged into the same virtual switch in Hyper-V so the latency between them is very small.

This behavior began after updating windows on the Sage server at the end of March and has persisted through updates applied in April as well. I have attempted to fix this by recreating the System DSN from scratch, trying a User DSN instead of a System DSN, and multiple machines and nothing fixes this very slow update issue.

Anyone see something similar with the 64 bit ODBC driver? Any suggestions for how to improve the speed of query resolution or why it suddenly stopped working? I am reluctant to uninstall security updates that were applied to the servers since this is not a business critical error but it has been affecting users.

Check tab 2 of your DSN, perhaps try the IP address instead of server name, check firewalls to ensure the port is open, and that the user has CS/ODBC enabled (if not set for all users).

Also verify the connection string within Excel... which does not dynamically update when you change DSN settings.  If done before you turned on CS/ODBC, the query's connection string would be missing that detail.  Test with new queries after settings changes (instead of refreshing an existing spreadsheet).
