Windows Server 2022

Microsoft has released Win Server 2022 recently, and obviously the SPMs won't have it listed yet, but we've already been asked about this while planning an upgrade. 

Is there a time estimate on how long the Sage testing will take before adding Win Server 2022 as a supported platform?

    Hi Kevin, Support for Server 2022 will occur in Q1 of next year. Support for Windows 11 will occur later this year.

    Is there any update on Windows 11 support?  KB 112666 and the SPM's don't have any new details yet.  Are there technical concerns to be wary of?

    We currently have Sage 100 on Server 2022 for RDP users. Even though we have folders and file extension whitelisted on AV (Microsoft Security), we occasionally still get a Printer Not Activated -30 on some print jobs. Switching AV's hasn't helped either so something else is causing delay in printing that's sporadically brining up the Printer Not Activated Error. Folder and Registry permissions has also been updated for all users, so don't know what else to try.

    That's great to hear you've been using Server 2022 for RDP. About the Printer Not Activated -30, I've dealt with it quite a bit and found it happens more on load-balanced RDP servers and in 1 of those cases it was Server 2022. I would do the next thing regardless. 100% of the time, for me anyway, it's fixed by applying the Amyuni Driver Update mentioned on KB 103205. Note the article says "Paperless Office printing prompts manually for PDF ..." and although I've never seen that occur, it fixes more important things like the sporadic annoying Printer Not Activated -30 and related errors. Also this driver update does not need access to the protected portion of the registry that is always reset when a Windows Update is installed.

    Also, it's easy to not apply the driver update correctly so follow the instructions carefully to make sure every RDP server and every stand-alone workstation gets the new driver. The steps vary depending on the version and product update of Sage 100 you're on.

    One additional note worth mentioning is that "printer not activated -30" also happens in a timeout situation.  if it takes a LONG time to print to a printer using that connection and printing task, it is possible for the 30 seconds timeout for Paperless Office to be reached when you choose to print to Paperless rather than printer. that would be an environmental issue rather than the Sage 100 PDF Converter.  (I would recommend update to the latest Sage 100 PDF Converter with the Amyuni Driver Update available for Sage 100 2019, 2020, 2021 - installed on server then each workstation using PL_advancedoptions_UI command in Sage 100).
